Dr Marjolein Kammers has extensive experience in supporting people of all ages who struggle with anxiety, depression, or other life challenges. She has a special interest and extensive experience working with families who have one or more children who have been diagnosed with a neurodevelopmental condition, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASP), or Cerebral Palsy (CP). She is adept at addressing a wide range of day-to-day challenges around executive functioning, organization, impulse control, emotional and behavioural regulation and social interactions.
Within that Dr Kammers has extensive experience working with parents, and offers support for carers at many stages of their family’s journey.
Marjolein will work closely with other Healthcare Professionals supporting you or your child, such as Occupation Therapists (OTs), Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists and/or your child’s school if needed.
Dr Kammers values up-to-date scientific and psychological insights and practical strategies for cultivating confidence, flexibility, and autonomy. She is able to translate those into targeted psychoeducation for each person or family.
For people who have experienced pregnancy loss, Marjolein provides perinatal support for people on their fertility journeys, including new parenthood.
Marjolein’s approach is warm and compassionate, and she takes time to empower people with relevant psychoeducation and individualised psychological support. This includes a wide range of evidence-based interventions, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Attachment Interventions, Parenting Support, Couples Therapy, Perinatal Support, and targeted support around brain-based conditions. Sessions are tailored to each person’s needs, values and goals, as Dr Kammers is passionate about people (re)discovering their confidence and increasing their wellbeing, while providing empowerment through scientific knowledge and understanding the connection between the brain, body and mind.
Dr Marjolein Kammers has a Master's in Psychology (with distinction) and PhD qualification in Cognitive Neuroscience. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and is a registered Psychologist with AHPRA. Marjolein also currently holds a Senior Research Fellow position at an Australian University.
She is a registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator, as well as a certified facilitator of Tuning into Kids and Tuning into Teens. Her clinical work is also informed by her academic background and scientific understanding of a broad range of mental health interventions, which includes looking holistically at the brain, the body and the mind.
Dr Marjolein Kammers focuses on therapeutic support and for assessment works closely with senior neuropsychologists at Matrix Neuropsychology, a private neuropsychology clinic in Melbourne.
She also works remotely as a psychologist for Matrix, where she provides ongoing therapeutic support and helps people work through specific (or more general) issues that are often identified through neuropsychological assessments. This connection provides her with access to a team of over a dozen senior neuropsychologists, which further informs and supports her work.
Dr Kammers and her |Brain|Body|Mind| practice sits within the Brisbane City Psychologists network, with over a dozen established clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists. She provides face-to-face sessions in their rooms at Level 18 / 141 Queen St in the Brisbane CBD.
