Parenting is often a complex journey, that is not only rewarding and wonderful but can also have many challenges along the way. Challenges that may trigger things from our own upbringing, challenges that are so new to us that we feel unprepared for them, challenges that create tension between carers, and/or challenges that we have received so much conflicting advice about that we no longer know what to do.
These sessions are here to empower you and restore your confidence as a parent/carer.
We often start with psychoeducation to answer any questions you might have about your child's developing brain, the role of emotion regulation, tools to identify the need underneath disruptive behaviour, and the role of attachment. Next, we will explore and implement evidence-based interventions tailored to support your child and your family's unique needs and goals.
Becoming a parent is not an easy step or a simple decision for everybody. It can be challenging, and sometimes medical assistance, a donor or other steps are needed. The road can be long and filled with highs as well as disappointment, worry, confusion, and sometimes loss. Dr Kammers would like to support you at every step, from your first wish for a child, through to conception, pregnancy, and birth.
These sessions are here for you to find support throughout your reproductive journey, with a specific space for (early) pregnancy loss, medical assistance and the use of donor eggs or sperm.
Our grief and pregnancy loss sessions help clients process the emotional pain of this type of loss. Dr Kammers provides clients with a supportive and compassionate space to express their feelings and work through the grieving process.
Anxiety is a common mental health challenge that is characterised by overwhelming feelings of worry, fear, and nervousness. There are different ways anxiety can show up and cause disruption in our lives, but it is often linked to avoidance, which makes it difficult to create the change you want.
